The project
The E.B. Eddy industrial complex is a large complex, recognized first for its manufacture of matches and that of domestic wooden articles, then for its production of lumber, but above all for its pulp and paper mill. The industrial complex has been located since 1854 on the islands of Chaudière Falls, on either side of the Ottawa River, along Laurier streets and Taché Boulevard. Made up of some thirty buildings divided into four sectors, the E.B. Eddy industrial complex is, with the exception of the Laurier Street factory, unoccupied since 2007.
At the beginning of September 2020, our team was called urgently for our client, to one of their building dating from the 1800s. We immediately moved our teams to the scene to observe the damage and secure the premises. When we arrived, we noticed that the strong winds had completely torn the roof off, leaving it unprotected against the rain, the metal becoming a danger to passers-by, since it is a very busy area.
The solution
We mobilized the use of a Crane from our partner Richard Steel and, with an experienced driver, we spent two days securing the roof, lowering the materials and taking out about twenty waste containers. We then proceeded with the delivery of the materials, and then proceeded to the installation of the membrane. Given the age of the building, it is extremely dangerous to set it on fire, so we have spared no effort and security checks to ensure that there is no fire in the building!
After a week of hard work we finished the work without any water infiltration. The owners were extremely happy with our service.
